CBSE, CISCE Term 1 Exam 2021: Supreme Court dismisses plea for hybrid mode exam

The Supreme Court in today’s hearing has dismissed a plea seeking to conduct CBSE and CISCE Term 1 examinations in hybrid mode (online and offline).

The Supreme Court on Thursday, November 18 dismissed a plea seeking to conduct CBSE and CISCE Term 1 examinations in hybrid mode (online and offline). A bench of Justice AM Khanwilkar and Justice CT Ravikumar disposed of the petition.

In today’s hearing, the Supreme Court said, “Examinations have started from November 16 and it would be unfair to interfere and obstruct the entire process of examination at this delayed stage.”

Further, SC directed both the boards to take necessary precautions during Term 1 examinations. The court also told the petitioners that if they had approached the court earlier, it would have considered the matter and directed the board to conduct the examination in hybrid mode.

The Court further observed that since the board will conduct the examination for 34 lakh students, which have already started, it will not be possible to change the mode of examination. It advised the counsel for the petitioners not to disturb this system of examination and made suggestions.

Six students of the Central Board of Secondary Education and the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations had filed a petition against the decision of both the boards to conduct the Term 1 examination in offline mode only. The petitioners have also alleged that conducting the examination offline would put the students at risk due to the COVID19 situation.
