Additional Secretary, Ministry of Jal Shakti, G Ashok Kumar was appointed as the new Managing Director Of National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) Under the Ministry of Jal Shakti. He Director General, Rajeev Ranjan Mishra. Kumar is known as the ‘Rain Man of India’ for his outstanding work in rainwater harvesting under the “Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain” campaign.

National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) was registered as a Society 12 August 2011 Under the Societies Registration Act 1860. It served as the implementing arm of the National Ganga River Basin Authority (NGRBA), which was constituted under the provisions of the Environment (Protection) Act (EPA), 1986. Consequent upon the formation of the National Council for Rejuvenation, Conservation and Management of River Ganga (referred to as the National Ganga Council), the NGRBA has been dissolved with effect from 7 October 2016.
