High Court: Order to investigate 2459 madrasas of Bihar

About two and a half thousand madrassas of Bihar will be investigated. After November 29, 1980, the Patna High Court has ordered the Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department to investigate 2459 madrassas funded by the state government. The High Court immediately held a meeting with all the District Magistrates of the state and asked them to inquire about their resources. Also ordered not to give grant money to 609 madrassas till the investigation is completed. Along with this, the court also ordered the DGP to give complete information about the research done to the court in connection with the FIR registered regarding the recognition given to Madrasas on forged documents.

On Tuesday, the division bench of Chief Justice Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice Partha Sarathi, Mo. of Sitamarhi. This order was given during the hearing on the application filed by Alauddin Bismil. Applicant’s advocate Rashid Izhar said that on the basis of fake documents, grants are being given to open madrasas as well. On this, the court ordered the education department to investigate all 2459 madrasas. Along with this, the court ordered a detailed investigation of other aspects including their resources under the Madrasa Act. The next hearing on the matter will be on February 14.

What is the matter?
Petitioner’s advocate Rashid Izhar told the court that the Special Director of Secondary Education Mohd. Tasnimur Rahman has given the investigation report of Sitamarhi’s madrasas taking government grants. It said that about 88 madrassas in the district have taken government grant on fake papers. Talked about taking action by registering an FIR against all of them. Additional Chief Secretary, Education Department, Deepak Kumar Singh has filed a counter-affidavit in the High Court, stating that a three-member committee has been constituted to investigate all 609 madrassas in other districts that have received government grants. The committee visited Khagaria, Banka, Begusarai, Katihar, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, Kishanganj, Sheohar, Siwan, Bhagalpur, East Champaran, Patna, Purnia, West Champaran, Rohtas, Sheikhpura, Samastipur, Saharsa, Sitamarhi, Saran, Supaul, Darbhanga, Vaishali Araria Instructed to investigate madrassas in Aurangabad, Gaya and Gopalganj districts. The Additional Chief Secretary also gave reminders to the DMs of these districts for not sending the inquiry report to the department within the stipulated time. But, the report came only from Sitamarhi. In this, the report of cancellation of grant of 88 madrasas of the district has been given. On this, the High Court ordered an inquiry into 2459 madrassas.
