note: Before the commencement of Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST) candidates will have to undergo verification of identity including biometric capture.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

The events of PET are as follows:-

for male candidates
i) Race 1.6 km To be completed within 7.30 minutes.
ii) 11 feet long jump 03 opportunities to be given)
iii) 3 feet high jump 03 opportunities to be given)
for female candidates
i) Race 800m To be completed within 4.45 minutes.
ii) 9 feet long jump 03 opportunities to be given)
iii) 3 feet high jump 03 opportunities to be given)

note: Departmental candidates who have qualified PET at the time of appointment to the force and Ex-Servicemen need not appear in PET. However they will need to qualify the requisite PST, Documentation, Written Test and Medical Examination.

Physical Standard Test (PST)

Candidates found qualified in the PET will be screened for height, chest measurement (only for male candidates) and weight.

Scrutiny of Documents (Documentation)

The testimonials of the candidates who qualify the PST will be scrutinized by the Board. Candidates have to submit original documents related to educational qualification, date of birth etc.

Written exam

Exam Pattern: The exam pattern will be as follows:

  • The written test will consist of OMR based objective type multiple choice questions.
  • The questions are to be answered with a blue or black ball pen only; OR Computer Based Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions at the discretion of ITBP.
  • The question paper will be of 100 marks/ questions.

Exam Syllabus: The exam syllabus will be as follows:

general English:- Verbs, Prepositions, Adverbs, Subject Verb Agreement, Error Correction/Recognition, Tenses, Sentence Rearrangement, Fill in the Blanks with Articles etc, Comprehension, Unseen Passages, Vocabulary, Synonyms and Antonyms Usage, Vocabulary and Grammar, Based on Proficiency Answering questions in language.

general Hindi:- Common errors of spelling and word forms of words, feminine forms of words, plural, change of a sentence to other gender, idioms and their meanings, pure forms of imprecise sentences, antonyms, synonyms and synonyms, one word for many words, Meaning of proverbs and proverbs, dissection, making expressive nouns from verbs, composition and author etc.

general awareness:- The questions in this component will be aimed at testing the general awareness of the candidates about the environment around them. The questions will also be designed to test the knowledge of current events and such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of any educated person. The test will also include questions related to India and its neighboring countries, especially questions related to sports, history, culture, geography, economic scene, general polity, Indian constitution, scientific research etc. These questions will be such that they do not require special study. of any discipline.

Quantitative Aptitude Test:- This question paper will include questions related to Number System, Calculation of Whole Numbers, Decimals and Fractions and Relationship between Numbers, Fundamental Arithmetic Operations, Percentages, Ratios and Proportions, Average, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, Mensuration, Time and Distance Will be , Ratio and Time, Time and Work, etc.

Simple reasoning:- This component may include questions on ranking and order, blood relations, similarities, similarities and differences, spatial visualization, spatial orientation, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relational concepts, arithmetic reasoning and figure classification, arithmetic number series, non-verbal series can. coding and decoding, etc.

Candidates shortlisted in order of merit as per number of vacancies category wise will be put through DME to assess their fitness as per rules.

Review Medical Examination (RME)

If the candidate who has been disqualified in the Detailed Medical Examination is not satisfied with the findings of the Medical Officer, he/she may submit an application for his/her review – Medical Examination of his/her along with a duly filled-in Medical Fitness Certificate. /within 15 days from the date of his/her rejection in DME. The Medical Certificate will not be considered unless it is signed and stamped by the Medical Practitioner and the photograph and signature of the candidate is attested and stamped by the Medical Practitioner.
