M Mukundan wins 2021 JCB Award for his book ‘Delhi: A Soliloquy’
Author M Mukundani won 2021 JCB Award for Literature, for his book ‘Delhi: A Soliloquy’. The book, originally written in Malayalam, has been translated into English Fatima EV and Nandakumar K. The novel, published by Westland, is a story about Delhi through the eyes of its Malayali young protagonist.
Mukundan received the award trophy, a sculpture by Delhi-based artist duo Thukral and Tagra titled ‘Mirror Melting’, and he will receive the prize money 25 lakhs Rs. This is the third translation to win the JCB award in the last four years. The jury for this award included Sara Rai (Chairman), Annapurna Garimela, Shahnaz Habib, Prem Panicker and Amit Verma.
