Speaking to PTI, Dr Dinesh Tyagi, Managing Director, CSC SPV said, “Technical support is needed in mobilizing eligible workers for e-labor registration, advocacy for the scheme and enabling the registration.”

Tyagi further added that CSC VLEs (Village-Level Entrepreneurs) being local, having credibility in the community and having the desired computing infrastructure including biometric authentication, plays a vital role in supporting the government in this unique initiative.

He also said that CSCs are also supporting the state governments in organizing camps for the same.

“We want CSCs to become labor welfare centers and help every employee to get their due benefits under central/state government schemes,” he said.

CSC e-Governance India Limited (CSC SPV), a special purpose vehicle under the Ministry of Electronics and IT, provides a number of electronic services to the consumers through its Common Service Centers.

The e-Shram portal is to help in creating a comprehensive national database of Unorganized Workers (NDUW) in the country.

The objective of the portal is to promote last mile delivery of welfare schemes to over 38 crore unorganized workers in the country.

It was launched on August 26, 2021.
