SC agrees to hear petition on hate speeches given in Haridwar’s Dharma Sansad

– World Affairs SRS

The Supreme Court on Monday agreed to hear a PIL seeking action against those who made inflammatory speeches during the recently held Dharma Sansad in Haridwar, Uttarakhand.

A bench headed by Chief Justice NV Ramana took note of the submission of senior advocate Kapil Sibal that despite the registration of an FIR, no action has been taken against those making inflammatory speeches.

I have filed this PIL in relation to the incident at the Dharma Sansad in Haridwar on 17th and 19th December. Sibal said, we are living in difficult times where the slogan in the country has changed from Satyamev Jayate.

Well, we will take up the matter, the CJI said.
