SSC JE Exam Pattern for Paper I & II

ssc je tier 2 exam will be held at 26 September 2021. Staff Selection Commission (SSC) JE (Junior Engineers) exam is conducted to recruit candidates for Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, and Quantity Surveying and Contract. Earlier, the SSC JE exam was postponed by the Staff Selection Commission due to the coronavirus pandemic. All the candidates appearing for the SSC JE recruitment exam must go through the detailed SSC JE exam pattern of Paper 1 and Paper 2.

SSC JE Exam Pattern: Paper-I

SSC JE Paper 1 consists of 200 questions to be attempted in 2 hours duration. SSC JE Paper 1 is divided into 3 sections: General Intelligence, General Awareness and General Engineering (Civil/ Mechanical/ Electrical). SSC JE Paper 1 is a computer based exam and consists of multiple choice questions. Candidates must appear in Paper 1 and Paper 2 in any one stream of General Engineering. Candidates should remember that a Negative marking of 0.25 marks per wrong answer.

  • Paper 1 is a computer based test consisting of multiple choice questions.
  • It consists of 3 sections, i.e. General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness and General Engineering (Civil / Mechanical / Electrical).
  • Sections 1 and 2 are same for each candidate. In Section 3, candidates have to choose their respective subjects from Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
  • Sections 1 and 2 have 50 questions each. These sections test the candidate’s ability and knowledge of general reasoning and awareness. Section 3 consists of 100 questions and tests the candidate’s knowledge for the subject chosen from Civil/ Mechanical/ Electra Engineering.
  • In Paper-I and Paper-II of General Engineering, the candidate has to attempt only the part as per the option given in the application form filled by the candidate.

SSC JE Exam Pattern: Paper-II (Descriptive Type)

Paper 2 is a descriptive paper and is based on the specialization of the candidates in Engineering. Candidates qualifying Paper 1 will be eligible to appear in Paper 2. It will have descriptive type questions for a total of 300 marks. Here are the details of SSC JE Exam Pattern Paper II.

  • SSC JE Paper 2 is a descriptive paper which is conducted in offline.
  • The question paper is of 300 marks and has to be solved in 2 hours.
  • Paper 2 is a conventional type exam, candidates have to choose a subject from Part A- Civil & Structural Engineering, Part B- Electrical Engineering or Part C- Mechanical Engineering.
  • Candidates are allowed to bring their own slide-rule, calculator, logarithm table and steam table for Paper-II.
  • No negative marking is applicable in Paper-2.

Important points to remember:

  • In Paper-I and Paper-II of General Engineering, the candidate has to attempt only the part as per the option given in the application form filled by the candidate.
  • Candidates appearing for the post of Junior Engineer (Civil), Junior Engineer (Quantity Surveying & Contract) will be required to appear for Part A (Civil & Structural) of Paper-I and Paper-II and for the post of Junior Engineer (Electrical) Candidates should try. ) should attempt Part-B (Electrical) and candidates appearing for the post of Junior Engineer (Mechanical) should attempt Part-C (Mechanical) of Paper-I and Paper-II, failing which his/her answer There will be no booklet (Paper II). rated.
