UPSC has said that there will be no change in the dates of the main examinations to be held on January 7, 8, 9, 15 and 16. The commission has urged the state governments to cooperate in the conduct of the examination and ensure that the candidates do not face any problem in commuting.

Their e-admit card and ID card should be used as movement pass.

The State Governments have also been urged to make good arrangements for public transport from the day before the commencement of the examinations to the last day so that the examinees and the staff involved in the conduct of the examination can easily move.

Selection is done through UPSC Civil Services for Indian Administrative Services (IAS), Indian Police Services (IPS) and Indian Foreign Services (IFS), Railway Group A (Indian Railway Accounts Service) among other services. UPSC Civil Services exam is conducted every year in three phases–preliminary, main exam and interview–. Final merit list is released on the basis of performance in main exam and interview.
