Exam Pattern:

The exam pattern of the written exam is as follows:-

  • Applicants considered provisionally qualified will have to appear in MCQ based preliminary examination which is qualifying in nature.
  • There will be 100 objective type questions with multiple choice (four options) answers carrying equal marks each.
  • The duration of this exam will be of 2 hours (two hours).
  • The question paper will be set in English language only.
  • There negative Marking of 1/4 mark for each wrong answer.
  • The questions in the Preliminary Examination will be from the following topics:-

  3. Oscillations and Waves:
    • Periodic motion – period, frequency, displacement as a function of time. periodic function. Simple Harmonic Motion (SHM) and its Equation; stage; Oscillations of a spring-restoring force and force constant.
    • Wave trend. Longitudinal and transverse waves, the speed of wave motion. Displacement relation for a progressive wave.
  4. operating current :
    • Electric current, Flow of electric charges in a metal conductor, Ohm’s law, Electrical resistance, VI characteristics (linear and non-linear), Electric energy and power, Electrical resistivity and conductivity.
    • Carbon resistors, color codes for carbon resistors; series and parallel combination of resistors; Temperature dependence of resistance. Internal resistance of the cell, potential difference and emf of the cell, combination of cells in series and in parallel.

Exam Pattern:

The exam pattern for the final written exam is as follows:-

  1. Paper – I :- English (Full Marks – 50) Of 1 one) hour duration.

    1. Essay / Report Writing / Precision Writing / Grammar (35 marks,
    2. language test of 15 points wherein a translation sheet will be provided for translating a passage from English to Bengali/Nepali, as the case may be, to test the candidate’s ability to write in Bengali/Nepali language.
  2. Paper-II: Physics and Computer Software, Hardware and Networking (Full Marks – 150) Of 2 (two) hour duration.
    1. Physics (Full Marks – 100)
    2. Computer Software, Hardware and Networking (Full Marks – 50).

The written examination for these 2 (two) papers of the final competitive examination will be conducted on the same day at the selected centers to be conducted by the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board. The West Bengal Police Recruitment Board shall have the discretion to fix the qualifying marks in the final competitive examination in all or any one of the 2 (two) papers and in the aggregate of 2 (two) papers.

personality test

A limited number of candidates fulfilling all the eligibility criteria for the post will be selected for Personality Test on the basis of merit based on the result of Final Competitive Examination. The final merit list of the provisionally selected candidates will be prepared on the basis of aggregate marks obtained in the final competitive examination and marks obtained in the personality test.
